This is the area that probably makes us most uncomfortable to confront. Exposing our feelings is scary. Practical matters often distract us from doing what we really feel that we should. I suppose that we might consider intuition to be a guide toward our emotional health because it seeks to remind us of what deep down we know that we should do. Possibly this area is difficult because we are rarely true to our feelings in our actions. When we remember what we really feel it provokes anxiety about the prospect of actually following through in our actions. Our emotional health is in large part determined by the nature and quality of our personal and social relationships. Unfinished or pathological relationships are a great source for internal turmoil and may cause us to do irrational things. Friendship is easy for some and difficult for others. Personally, this is a difficult area for me. Our lives are so busy that there is little time left to cultivate these sensitive relationships. I suspect however, that most people have few true friends. In fact, most people even seem to avoid eye contact with strangers. Where does this fear come from? Have we had such bad experiences with people, or are we just too busy that we are afraid to say hello? My determination is that Justice is the key ingredient for emotional health. After spending so much time debunking duality I must acknowledge that we have made duality our reality. For optimal emotional health we must seek justice in two arenas. First we must have justice in our personal interactions with people. This alone is not enough. Since we believe that we live in democracies with representative governments then each individual becomes responsible for the actions of our governments. We must see to it that our governments functions with justice in their actions; both domestically and internationally.
My suggestion in this category would be to get this video: Another referral to Carolyn Myss. I think there is a book also but this might be better to actually watch. I referred to her work under spiritual health. As I developed in my book: "Why Alternative Medicine and Why Now?", both the spiritual body and the emotional bodies are how we have polarized soul in western reality. There are many great spiritual teachers but Myss is one that I personally think is easier to connect with. I would place this video in the category of an emotional approach to wellness.
Why People Don't Heal and How They Can
The Emotional Body is about relationship on both the personal and the social levels. When talking of the emotional body in my book; I note that "relationships are difficult without understanding Kundalini yoga".
